Welcome to the Marine Department Malaysia Homepage.
The safety of Marine transportation is of paramount importance in ensuring the efficient carriage of goods and services by sea globally. Bearing this in mind, the Marine Department Malaysia, being responsible for regulating the safety of Marine transportation within Malaysian waters, has embarked on an awareness programme to inform all our customers, whether local or international, on the latest developments affecting the safe use of our waters in Malaysia.
Recently in line with the vision of the Malaysian Government to go paperless with the development of an Electronic Government, Marine Department Malaysia has embarked on a modernization programme to enhance its capability in information technology. We are in the process of going on-line nationally, with the planned link-up of all our offices nationwide via the intranet communication system. This will give access to our customers, wherever they may be , to access our infobase thus providing them with a convenient means of access to information needed for their use.
It is also hoped that this increase in accessibility will in turn enhance the safety awareness of everybody involved in the shipping business. It must be emphasized that safety is a crucial element of shipping economics and it is wise to invest in it.
In addition to this, and realising the importance of accessibility of information
to the general public and the business community, the Marine Department Malaysia's
Home Page provides information pertaining to our organization, our goals and objectives,
the various activities undertaken, statistics as well as the governing laws, rules,
international conventions and agreements applied in carrying out our activities.
