QUALITY POLICY



Marine Department Quality is:

The Marine Department Malaysia is determined to build and implement various systems pertaining to the Safety of Navigation, the Security of Ships, and the Management of Seafarers.This is to ensure that customer services are delivered with high quality and great satisfaction, together with, the fulfillment of the international standards and the national laws.


Quality Objectives

In the effort to implement the quality objectives, it is vital to (1) fulfill the needs of all interested parties, and (2) to ensure continuity in improving the effectiveness of Marine Department's Quality Management System.

The Marine Department Malaysia states the quality objectives in accordance with the implementation of the MS ISO 9001: 2000.The said
objectives are examined and later declared, every year in the management review meeting.


Seafarers Certification

1. Provide Seafarers Certificate of competency Examination at least 2 times per annum for each grade;
2. To determine the qualification to sit for examination within 1 week from acceptance date of the application;
3. To issue certificate of competency within 1 month of examination result declared.




Navigatinal Systems

To ensure device of effectiveness of the aids to navigation which is “availability / reliability” to achieve the standard of International Association of Lighthouse Authorities (IALA) which is:

1. Category 1 – Lighthouse. Availability at least 99%
2. Category 2 – Beacons. Availability at least 98%
3. Category 3 – Light Bouy. Availability at least 97%



Ship Registration

1. Process and issue Ship Registration Certificate within 7 working days.
2. To ensure implementation of the ship registration process standardize and systematic.
3. To provide facilities to get periodic, accurate, fast and up to date information.
