SEAMEN AFFAIRS & PORT DIVISION
OBJECTIVE
- To ensure that Malaysian ships are always safely manned by trained and competent personnel.
- To ensure that all officers and crew serving on board Malaysian ships possess the necessary
certificates and/or documents in conformance the STCW Convention and the Merchant Shipping Ordinance 1952.
- To ensure that all port and jetty structures under the charge of the Marine Department are maintained in good
condition and operational at all times.
- To ensure that all Marine Department vessels are maintained according to schedule and operational when required.

- The Administration and conduct of certificate of competency examinations.
- Inspection and accreditation of seafarers training facilities.
- Recognition of certificates of competency.
- Ensuring the Safe Manning of malaysian Ships.
- Regulating and Control of Ship-to-ship activities.
- Monitoring of Barter Trade activities in Malaysian ports

The maintenance of port and jetty structures under the charge of the Marine Department
- Maintenance and repairs of port and jetty structures.
- Maintenance and repairs of port and jetty facilities and equipment.

The maintenance of all Marine Department vessels
- Preparation of maintenance schedules for all these vessels.
- Preparation of job specifications for the maintenance and repair of all these vessels.
- Supervision of maintenance and repair works on all these vessels.
- Performance of trials on vessels and equipment after maintenance and repair works have been completed.
- Coordination and management of the requisition of spare parts.
